STEAM Day with the Flint Firebirds @ Dort Financial Center

*Option to show off your project and have feedback before the fair, not required to attend.

Each student that brings a project will get free admission to the game!  There will be judging and prizes given to students along with other STEAM activities.

Setup is from 5:40 - 6:00 PM.
Project display with public and judges is from 6:00 - 6:45 PM.
Additional activities will take place during intermissions.

Each student must be accompanied by an adult.  Tickets outside of the student are not provided by the FRSEF.
- Your ticket as a student with a project will be paid by the FRSEF and Firebirds
- Tickets for others (parents, siblings) will need to be paid ahead of time.  A representative of the Firebirds will reach out for this to the parent email.

Deadline for Submission of SRC Forms Requiring Pre-Approval**

Projects requiring pre-approval that are not submitted by February 1 will not be allowed entry into the FRSEF.

Friday - Sunday, March 15 - 17, 2024

2024 Flint Regional Science and Engineering Fair (Preliminary Schedule)

Friday

  • 12:00 - 3:00 School setup (by appointment)
  • 3:00 - 6:00 Project setup (open to all)

Saturday - Senior

  • 7:15 - 8:15 Setup (for special circumstances, and by prior request only)
    • Setup is only allowed during the allocated times and must be complete by the end of the setup window for your division.  Plan accordingly.
    • All Senior Projects must be set up by 8:15, regardless of Judging Pod.
  • 8:45 - 10:00 Non-Finalist Judging
    • Arrive by 8:30
    • Line up in the Non-Finalist line.
      • Your judge will meet you in line and you will walk them to your project.
      • Following judging, your judge will dismiss you.
    • Your judge will meet you in line and you will walk them to your project.
    • Please repeat meeting a judge multiple times to gather more feedback and show off your work!
  • 8:45 - 12:00 Senior Finalist Judging
    • Arrive by 8:30
    • Line up in the Finalist line
      • You will be let in as a group and walk to your project and remain at your project until dismissed.
      • Please remain at your project until dismissed, there will be multiple judges
    • Display items can be brought in => prototypes, model, graph print offs, pictures, etc
    • After dismissal from Judging, stay close for the announcement of the Super Finalists.
  • 12:15 / 12:45 - 2:15 Super Finalist Judging
    • Round of judging for top projects - determine ISEF Finalists
  • 2:15 - 5:00 Public Viewing

Saturday - Junior

    • Line up in the Finalist line
      • You will be let in as a group and walk to your project and remain at your project until dismissed.
      • Please remain at your project until dismissed, there will be multiple judges

Sunday

  • 12:00 - 1:00 PM Public Viewing of projects at Riverfront Center
  • 1:00 PM Awards Ceremony at Riverfront Center

International Science & Engineering Fair - Los Angeles, CA

Top award winners from the FRSEF and student observers will represent the FRSEF at the world's largest and most competitive science fair - we expect to win!

- Examples of projects that require pre-approval: Humans, Vertebrate Animals, Human/Animal Tissue, PHBAs (blood, bodily fluids, bacteria)
